Castle of de San Pedro de la Roca


Overlooking the sea, the Castle of San Pedro de la Roca is imposing with its ramparts and bastions. It was built by the Spaniards to control passages in the bay and protect the city of Santiago (10 km) against pirates. Its foundations based on a old dating back to 1610. Since 1997, the fortress was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its star-shaped architecture.
